About the Department
The Department of Botany offers M.Sc., M.Phil, and Ph.D. in Botany. It is unique at PSG College of Arts & Science because of fundamental research and teaching on plants, which provide students with substantial exposure and hands-on training in a variety of subject areas ranging from microbes, algae, fungi, bryophytes, ferns, gymnosperms and angiosperms including crop plants. The disciplines studied include plant structure, growth, and development, plant molecular biology, physiology and biochemistry, ecology, genetics, medicinal plants, biotechnology and bioinformatics. Our students receive a high-quality education through engagement in these topics via faculty and tools. Our faculties are involved in teaching and research within the department. The Department takes a conscious effort to expand its teaching program through field excursions and projects.
