Star College Scheme was initiated by DBT, Government of India in the year 2008 to foster interest in science education among the students and to enhance the quality of science teaching. Through this scheme, DBT identified a few colleges all over the nation, to augment student admissions in science courses by funding for the upgradation of department infrastructure, and for conducting more hands-on practical sessions. The scheme played a significant role in improving the skills of the students, inculcating scientific inquisitiveness and led to an experimental study of scientific concepts.
