Department of FRENCH

Established in 1977, Department of French has been conducting a Bridge Course for the past 10 years for the freshers. This module equally serves as a very strong reinforcement for those who have already learnt French in school, thereby kindling interest to pursue the language further. The bridge course covers the necessary grammar in an accelerated yet progressive manner.

A multi-language approach is used to learn the grammatical structures thus making for an interesting and motivating environment to study.

There are opportunities galore for those who pursue their Post-Graduation in French, for after studying the language for four semesters, the students are eligible to do their M.A. French / M.A. French (Translation & Interpretation). Hotel French is an integral part of Catering Science & Hotel Management, very helpful in assisting the students with their core subjects.

This bridge course really bridges the gap with its easy progression for all the students opting for French, in Part I. It also remains as a Reference Material that can be used at any time.

The four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking are integrated with the study of key grammatical structures. Students are trained to apply knowledge of linguistic elements of the French language accurately for specific communication needs and are motivated to understand and create different kinds of messages in French in various experiential situations for a variety of purposes. They are encouraged to take progressively more responsibility for their own learning, as they move through the programme. Knowledge of French opens up Global Employment Opportunities in areas such as Education, Business, Hotel industry & Airline and Travel industry.
